Sol Hoopii's Novelty Trio had a very interesting style that often mixed Jazz and Blues with traditional Hawaiian music. The band's redition of the Jazz classic Singing The Blues is modeled after the famous version recorded by the Frankie Trumbauer Orchestra. The Novelty Trio's cover version of the New Orleans Rhythm Kings' Farewell Blues is one of the more interesting string band recordings of the 1920s. Not all of Hoopii's records should be considered Jazz but when he did start "jazzin' it up" the results were often quite good.
