A few years after these records were made, many of the musicians that played on them such as Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Bunny Berigan, Artie Shaw, Jack Teagarden and Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey would be the hottest acts in Jazz. But, despite the incredible musical talent that Rollini assembled for these recording sessions the results are somewhat lackluster and commercial. There are a few numbers that stand out like Blue Prelude and Savage Serenade that hint at future greatness, but in general the performances suffer from stilted vocals and a general lack of excitement or beauty.
