Although Irving Mills is remembered mostly as a music publisher and for being the manager of the Duke Ellington Orchestra he was also a singer and songwriter. Mills contributed vocals to many of the recording sessions that he set up for the Ellington Orchestra and others. Mills co-wrote "At The Prom" with saxophonist Jack Pettis and contributes some nice scat vocals to the tune.
