The Black and Tan Orchestra was one of the first New Orleans Jazz bands to play in California. Unfortunately, they never recorded, but many of the musicians in this band would later record together with Sonny Clay's bands, Harvey Brooks' Quality Four and Paul Howard's Quality Serenaders in Los Angeles.
